Alan Bowers, M.AmSAT

The Alexander Technique in Manhattan

hile serving as an Artist-in-Residence at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Mr. Bower’s work was a "game changer" for a significant number of our students.  His teaching style possessed a gracefulness and ease that immediately allowed focused and intense learning.  I was particularly impressed by his organic understanding of the myriad of issues faced by musicians of all types.  Mr. Bowers diagnosed, addressed and subsequently began to eliminate less efficient habits for more effective coordination.  Since his visit to UNLV, I’ve had several faculty and students continue to express their positive comments. We’ll certainly invite him to return in the future!

Tod Fitzpatrick, D.M.A., Cert. in Vocology
Associate Professor University of Nevada, Las Vegas

We LOVED having you, and wish you could be here everyday! The basic concepts of Alexander Technique are now in my mind always, which has helped so much with my singing. Please come again soon to reinforce all that you taught us.

Patrticia Prunty, Vocal Coordinator, California State University, Fullerton

Thank you Alan, you are a wonderful teacher. It was truly a blessing to be in that class.... I really feel as though Alexander Technique will benefit me immensely. I would even be interested in teaching it at some point in my life.

Amanda Achen, Participant, California State University , Fullerton

The vocal faculty and the students join me in thanks for the fine class you gave last Friday. It was very stimulating and your energy and enthusiasm were contagious. The listeners were right with you the whole time. We appreciate also your being willing to work with the two beginning students. Again, our appreciation for a job well done. It was delightful to meet you at last.

Margaret Schaper, Professor Emeritus, University of Southern California

Thank you SO much for coming and giving the three group classes and multiple private sessions for our students and faculty. The singers, pianists and instrumentalists are still talking about it and applying what they learned. Your fresh and enlightening approach to the Alexander Technique set us all to thinking in ways we had not done before – and it makes so much sense! Your warm approach, your sensitivity to each individual and your sense of humor made the whole experience beneficial and memorable. We’ll look forward to having you back again!
