100 days, 100 hints on singing. Number 10

An exercise for the singing actor. Place yourself in the scene of a song, an aria, or an ensemble. In your mind's eye, populate the scene with your self and those with whom you're singing and interacting. Clothe yourself in period costume, and create all the objects of your environment, the season, the period, the clime, and then, sing the song to your self, yes, to your self, in the environment of your creating. It might not seem like acting at all; perhaps it's something other, visioning, perhaps. Whatever it is, you might call it liberating. If you're thinking about acting, it isn't acting.
